@April Beck you should still go watch it regardless if it is secular.
if we live life without taking the time to understand an area that’s outside of our comfort zone, then we wont be giving life the benefit of the doubt! we wont be able to learn anything that may or may not help us. in life there will always be things that can be destructive, dislike, troubling, but if we continue to ignore/avoid/block it forever, we will never learn how to deal with it nor learn the good aspect from it which could help bridle our future selves. (unless however the area is completely destructive to your lifestyle, then by all means, avoid!, but that’s only if you took the time to identify all aspects of the area, the good and the bad.)
all im saying is that you cant be completely black&white about it, i encourage you to still go as an opportunity of discernment under your own account, regardless of what reviews say.
too easy it is to not know of an area and jump to conclusions of what others say. questionable it is, if we always go with what people say and not discovering it for ourselves, shows that we dont have a mind to think for ourselves. remember that the mind is a gift from God, jump into the unknown as an opportunity to use the mind as well for our own understanding in our walk with the Lord.
it’s all about how we choose to let it affect us by either taking offense to it OR not take offense to it at all and take it with a grain of salt and move forward.
we may all be christians, but at the same time dont forget we also live in a secular world. we can choose to live in a box not knowing the outside because of listening to what others say, or we can choose to discover what’s outside of our box.
so with this said, embrace the secular, but stay aware of how it influences us.
dont let emotions, pride, anger, sensitivity, offense, arrogance, immaturity get in the way of our judgement. and being quick to think, quick to judgment, quick to response, quick to emotions, quick to sensitivity, quick to anger, quick to pride can distort our discernment.
The main reason why you don’t want to go is out of fear. You have to remember that the enemy creates fear. Fear is an illusion that distorts our imagination. By you not taking the time to understand an area and jumping to pre-conceived judgment, is giving the enemy validation to control you. Trust in the Lord, know that with whatever area you stumble upon in life, whether it be secular or biblical, that through Him, He will carry you in peace, love, joy, calmness, and comfort. Don’t forget that the Lord is with you always. In Him, fear has no place in our lives.
The enemy is the master of deception, tricks, and illusions. The enemy is a sore loser.
But know that you are Daddy God’s daughter, a royal princess invited in His throne room, the Lord will never want to harm you, in Him, He will protect you, just look to Him always, and all those other things you once feared will be gone no more!
Regardless of life, the world will always throw lemons. But it’s how we respond to the lemons being thrown at us. Are we just going to stay indoors for the rest of our lives, because we’re scared of getting hit again? Or Are we going to learn how to make lemonade with those lemons?
Just take this into consideration, that this could be a challenge, another obstacle course that could help us crossover into the next stage in developing our walk for His plan.
“The Lord wouldn’t have allowed a challenge to happen, if He didn’t plan for something good to come from it.”
Dear Brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.
I know that this is a really long response, but it just came to me, and I felt that I was called to give you some words of encouragement as a brother.
rely on God like this:
that’s why you have to train yourself to put on the whole armor of God, so that when fear lies, you dont need to be feared but stay fearless
